Once again, the so-called "October lull" did not stop me from getting out in the woods and enjoying it in all it's beauty. It would not have mattered if I had seen any deer, it was just great to be out of the office and away from the city. The winds in Merrill, WI had been blowing out of the south @ 15-25 mph for almost a week and I culminated in a missed shot at a small buck on the 8th. The weather the following week turned to rain then wind 15-20 mph out of the west. I figured the deer would not stay put for long so I ventured back out on the 15th and within 2 hours of reaching the stand this young buck walked in and provided me with some great tasting venison.
