EVANSVILLE, IN — In 1941, archery legend Fred Bear announced the founding of Bear Archery in Detroit, and 65 years later his namesake company is back and revitalized as one of North America's major brands of compound, traditional and youth bows.

In making the announcement, Jim Allshouse, president of the new Bear Archery, said the company has decided to move forward by formally re-establishing one of the best known names in the history of bow design and innovation — Bear Archery.

"Never one to rest on his laurels, Fred Bear continued to blaze the trail, establishing a highly competitive, cutting-edge product line and, at the same time, making sure through education and community service that future generations could continue to hunt the country and help their fellow citizens," said Allshouse. "I think this is an on-target description of where we are as a company today."

Continuing in that great American tradition embraced by Bear, Allshouse said the current management at Bear Archery has in the course of the last three years forged a national presence by creating a more consumer-friendly organization.

"Not only are we continuing to push the envelope in the affordability and quality design of compound, traditional and youth bows, we have created a stronger market share by aggressively forming strategic relationships," said Allshouse.

As part of a 10-year agreement with Primos Hunting Calls, Bear Archery this year is introducing a revolutionary compound hunting bow — The Truth, which is making its national debut later this fall. Giving something back to the community is also a company directive with the continuation and growth of the Fred Bear Sportsman's Club Shoot for the Hungry, family-oriented target shooting events that annually raise thousands of dollars to process hunter-donated venison. This past summer, in partnership with Bass Pro Shops, Fred Bear Sportman's Club raised a record $33,800 or enough to process some 135,000 venison meals to feed local individuals and families in need.

In addition to the popular series of Bear Archery compound bow — including the Code, Instinct, Element and now The Truth — Allshouse said the company will also continue to market bows and equipment accessories under the Jennings® Archery, Satellite™ Archery and the newly acquired Carolina Archery Product™ brands.

He said Bear Archery will also continue to focus on its award-winning traditional line, which include many of Fred Bear's original designs as well as offer an extensive catalog of youth bows and youth bow sets.
